 With all eyes focussed on the eagerly-awaited results of Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh polls, papers of the day analysed different scenarios. 'Verdict to have far-reaching implication for Congress and BJP', writes the Tribune. Businessline of the Hindu says, 'State Contests, National Consequences', as the outcome will have a major bearing on national politics and the 2014 General Elections.

 Public outrage in the gang rape case continues to grow report the papers. 'Anger rises in city as girl sinks', headlines the Times of India. 'Two admit to gang rape', 'Fifth detained in Bihar', write the Hindu and the Tribune. Government to bear medical expenses of Delhi gangrape victim, writes the Statesman.

 A Samajwadi Party member snatching papers from a Minister while he was presenting the Bill for reservation in promotions in government jobs for SCs and STs , and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi's personal intervention, also find prominence in the papers.  The Times of India reports the Minister of State for Home RPN Singh stating in Rajya Sabha yesterday that as of now, there are no specific inputs to say that terrorists are investing in share and stock markets, however, there are some transactions, suspected to be linked to financing of terrorism.

 The Financial Express reports that the Government's ambitious welfare programme Direct Cash Transfer's pilots have borne fruit in several parts of the country, with beneficiaries in Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra buying ration supplies, and receiving pensions and scholarships, using the Online Authentication System.
